Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Copocabana, Leblon and Ipanema are not only some of the most famous beaches in Rio they are also the most atmospheric. Although located adjacent to each other (which makes for a great walk along the long sweeping bays), they couldn't be more different in character. Ipanema is the most exclusive of the bunch and is located in one of the most expensive areas of Rio. Nevertheless, all three beaches have fabulous sweeping bays, lots of convenient drinks stands (selling the ubiquitous caiprihinia) and plenty of people hanging out, playing volleyball, practising capoiera, having a game of beach football - literally anything goes! The weekends are when the beaches really come to life as all the locals come down to relax on their days off. The roads along the front are cordoned off and you'll find all sorts of things going on. And in the evening there's nothing better than hopping from bar to bar, hanging out at one of the many beach front restaurants or stopping at one of the drink shacks for a quick beer or cocktail. It's truely spectacular. Got a favourite beach of your own? Email us at info@ticalondon.com to tell us all about it! |
